Exciting Start to the 2024-25 Roshn Saudi League: Champions Clash, Debut Drama, and Record Chasers
As the opening matchweek of the 2024-25 Roshn Saudi League concludes on Saturday, fans can look forward to seeing the two most recent champions begin their respective campaigns, alongside another club making its top-flight debut.
Al Kholood v Al Ittihad
Al Kholood receives a grand introduction to the RSL as they face off against the 2022-23 champions. The Ar Rass-based team enters the Saudi Arabian top flight for the first time, having secured third place in last season's First Division League.
They've been active in strengthening their squad for this leap, most notably signing goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe. In a twist of fate, Grohe will oppose the very club he helped win the title two seasons ago.
Al Kholood is on the verge of starting their inaugural season!
On the other side, Grohe will encounter many new faces. Al Ittihad, aiming to overcome last season’s fifth-place finish, have appointed manager Laurent Blanc and added talents like Algerian playmaker Houssem Aouar, French winger Moussa Diaby, Serbian goalkeeper Pedrag, and several skilled Saudi players.
Both teams are eager to start strong.

Al Okhdood v Al Hilal
This season’s compelling storyline: who will manage to defeat Al Hilal first? The reigning champions cruised through the 2023-24 RSL season unbeaten, winning 31 out of 34 matches and shattering records along the way.
Al Okhdood will be the latest team to attempt this feat, with new manager Stjepan Tomas facing a formidable challenge in his league debut. Nonetheless, the former Croatian international is poised to strive for significant improvements after the team's narrow escape from relegation last season.
On the other hand, Jorge Jesus, Al Hilal's counterpart, continues to miss the injured Neymar, with popular winger Michel having recently returned to Brazil. Despite these absences, Aleksandar Mitrovic will aim to maintain his impressive goal-per-game ratio in the RSL, supported by AFC Player of the Year Salem Al Dawsari, fellow Serbian Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Brazilian star Malcom.
This match promises plenty of goals.
