A late Houssem Aouar strike clinched a vital 1-0 victory for Al Ittihad in Qassim against newly promoted Al Kholood during Saturday’s early kick-off.
Making their debut appearance in the Roshn Saudi League, the team from Ar Rass showed great resilience, defending firmly and attempting to counter the 2022-23 champions. They managed to hold off their illustrious opponents until deep into added time.

The hosts nearly shocked their decorated adversaries within the first 15 minutes when veteran defender Mohammed Jahfali delivered a 50-yard pass to Myziane Maolida. The forward controlled the ball, rounded debutant goalkeeper Pedrag Rajkovc, and aimed for the Al Ittihad goal.
A heroic goal-line clearance by defender Luiz Felipe was required, resulting in an injury for the former Lazio man, who had to be stretchered off. Mohanad Al Shanqiti replaced him.
Goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, facing his former club in his first match since leaving Al Ittihad, produced a string of outstanding saves to keep the score level. Nonetheless, the Brazilian could do nothing when substitute Abdulrahman Al Obud reached the byline and squared the ball for Aouar. With the goal wide open, the high-profile summer signing scored the decisive goal in the 94th minute.
